According to the statistics site Statista, the market value of the E-Sports sector reached $ 906 million at the end of 2018. Considering that this figure is 130 million dollars in 2012, it turns out that the industry has incredibly doubled itself in just 6 years. It is no exaggeration to say that E-Spor is a candidate to be the most popular sport of the future with this performance. What is this E-Sport? E-Sports (or electronic sports) are professional video games competitions. In the tournaments that promise big money and prestige, professional players play video games in competition with each other. These tournaments can range from small local matches to stadiums filled by thousands of people. It's not as new a sport as you might imagine. The first E-Sports tournament took place in 1972, with the Spacewar tournament, which students of Stamford University rode among themselves. The platform on which the tournament was played was the PDP-1 computer derived from radar systems. The 90s became a turning point. The 90s became a turning point for E-Sport, because the term "E-Sport" also emerged in this period. Also, as producers like Sega and Nintendo started organizing tournaments, players started playing for up to $ 15,000 in prizes. MOBA games are the most popular. Multiplayer online battlefield games like LoL, Dota, Heroes of Storm and more are the most played E-Sports games. FPS games such as CS: GO, PUBG are also closely followed. The audience figures are astonishing. E-Spor has a total of 380 million followers, with 165 million regular followers and 215 million period followers. It should be noted that in addition to platforms such as Twitch and Youtube, television channels such as ESPN are also starting to host big tournaments. It has already overtaken the popular sports of today ... The American football final Super Bowl, known as the most popular sports event in the world, reached 103 million viewers, while the League of Legends 2018 World Championship final managed to reach over 200 million instant viewers.
